Ibrahim Sagna
Ibrahim Sagna (pronounced “San Ya”) is an institutional platform builder with over 25 years of experience in global finance. His track record includes enabling over USD 30 Billion of Africa-related investments spanning telecom, media, and technology projects; across consumer spaces, traditional infrastructure, and natural resources.
Mr. Sagna holds several international roles and serves on the boards of various leading institutions including the Global Sports Summit's governing body. He is the Vice-Chairman and a Founding Partner of the Cape Town Tigers. The team is the South Africa national champion and was created recently for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the African League of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
As a technology enthusiast, Mr. Sagna is an angel investor in some of the most innovative tech startups across Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to Silverbacks Holdings, Mr. Sagna played diverse roles within investment-grade-rated multilateral institutions and capital allocators such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank)
His Africa-focused professional experience included operating roles in private equity-backed and technology-enabled platform IBEX Global (formerly TRG Global), together with fund management at the Emerging Capital Partners (ECP), Millennium Global Investments, First Continent Capital, and the Fund for Export Development for Africa (FEDA).
Mr. Sagna is Senegalese and holds a Masters Degree in Finance from Boston College, besides executive degrees from Harvard Business School, London Business School, and INSEAD.
